The GARDEN

THIS WEEK
We are open on:

Sunday 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm

Who is The GARDEN for?

The GARDEN of Downton Baptist Church is a place where everyone is welcome.IMG 1795
A place to share, to sow, plant, and gather together.  A place to grow food and flowers for our community, and will be given away in The LARDER.
We will share time, knowledge and love with anyone who comes as we garden and drink tea together!

How will The GARDEN work?

96e8ee7e-020a-4eb9-a4cb-32b947When The GARDEN is open there will be a varied jobs list which will range in effort and ability.  The lead gardeners for the day will guide you to something you feel you would like to do.  We will offer support in every way we can.

We hope to make a place where you can come and belong.

What can I expect when I come The GARDEN?

You will be asked to answer some questions before you start.
These questions will make you aware of how to keep yourself and others safe.

By working in The GARDEN, you will need to wash your hands as working with compost is unclean and some plants, bulbs and seeds may be toxic and cause allergies or sickness.
You will be asked to take care when lifting or moving items.
We will ask you to keep tools and walk ways tidy to stop others tripping over and IMG 1420to use tools correctly.
We will ask you to wear closed shoes, long sleeves and wear a pair of gloves.  If the weather is hot, we will encourage you to wear sun screen and a hat.
We ask you to take care and listen to instructions around any open fires.
We ask that if you have any medical conditions that you think we should know about to keep you safe, that you let us know.
We strongly suggest you ensure you are covered for Tetanus.
All young people under 18 need to be kept in the supervision of their parent or guardian.

How much does The GARDEN cost?IMG 1161

The GARDEN is absolutely free
and anyone can come and take part.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello to Downton Baptist Church

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When?

We meet at our Church in South Lane, Downton, for our Sunday Service starting at 10.30 am. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team and Duty Stewards.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits following our service.. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a disabled toilets.

Our Service

The Sunday Morning Worship service begins at 10.30 am with a warm welcome.
During the service there will be a time of sung worship, led by our band.  There will then follow readings from the bible and a talk about what we have heard.  There will be times of prayer.
Please ask if this is new for you and would like some support.

We are pleased to say we have a programme for our young people and everyone is welcome.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At an appropriate moment,  the young people will be asked to go their various groups.  You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy.

Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.
