Our monthly Clothing Exchange is held at Downton Baptist Church, South Lane, Downton. We aim to serve our community by the giving and receiving of clothing. Everyone is welcome. We offer a warm and friendly place to browse and share in our free refreshments.
Dates for 2020
Due to Public Health England advice, we are currently unable to accept donations of clothing.
We are aiming to start collection of clothes again from 1st January 2021. This is subject to change in line with Government advice.
Next:We are currently hoping to start in the new year. We will update our website accordingly.
Doors open at 2pm. The Clothing Exchange finishes at 3.45pm.
Is there a cost?
There is NO cost for receiving anything from the Clothing Exchange. Nor is it necessary for you to bring a donation with you. What we receive is freely given to you.
When can you leave your donations?
The Church is open Monday to Thursday from 9am until 1pm. There is a large box for collections in the first room from the reception. The church is also open on a Sunday morning from 10am until 12.15pm. You are welcome to bring items on the day.
What is collected?
We collect clothes, shoes, belts and handbags.
For any other items, such as toys, bedding or furniture, please take this directly to Trussell Trust.
How is best to leave the donations?
Please bag the clean clothes in small carrier bags. This makes it easier for our volunteers to carry them. Thank you!
What happens to the excess donations?
All excess clothing is donated to Trussell Trust for sale in their shops.
Why do we do this?
We believe that we should serve our community by helping anyone in need. We also wish to reuse unwanted items and play our part in being kind to our world. Thank you for your support.
